How can something be poorly written but so good at the same time?

The Prince of Wolves is a fine example of this.

A good friend of mine highly recommended reading this book. Since I have enjoyed Twilight in the past, she figured that I would like this one as well.

But this book did come with a warning from her, it is self published and it has some issues.

There are grammatical issues, long winded story and this needs to be edited by a professional on the flow of the story.

Even though I am going to point out some issues that I felt were in the book, I promise you, this is a good read. If you just bear through some of the issues, Prince of Wolves is entertaining in that cheesy teen paranormal love story kind of way.

Jacque is a 17 year old girl who lives in Texas with her mom and has two best friends Sally and Jen. It is the last week before their senior year of high school starts.

Her neighbor across the street is accepting a foreign exchange student from Romania. When this guy shows up, they immediately lock eyes on each other and then Jacque can hear his voice in her mind.

Now this guy’s name is Fane, he is the heir of the Canis Lupis tribe of wolves in Romania. When he arrived in Texas, he wasn’t expecting to meet his mate. Also wasn’t expecting to meet her at such a young age as well since it can take centuries to find her.

There is where the story evolves in the matter of 4 days. Whew, if you like insta love, this is an INSTA love kind of story.

It turns out that there is another pack in the same city as them that Fane didn’t know about. The leader of that pack has already wanted to claim Jacque as his mate. So there are issues there.

Jacque throughout the story tries to be super independent and always screaming she can be whomever she wants and when she wants. Then turns around and goes ‘I am in love with you Fane’ on the next page. It’s a whiplash, but I am here for that.

There is a lot of dialogue between Jacque and her best friends which made this small 230 page book seem longer. I felt like it was unnecessary to the plot line and some of the comments that Jen, one of Jacques best friends, makes are annoying and uncalled for.

I am looking forward to continuing the series due to the fact the plot line is good. I am hoping that the writing somewhat improves and from what I hear, she does get an editor at some point.
