My Rating:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Worth. The. Hype.

This is the second time I have ever read a STEM book. I read another STEM book and it fell flat for me. So, I didn’t have too much hope in it, even though this was a very hyped book out there. But when I read The Love Hypothesis, I was blown away with how amazing this read was. It is certainly worth the hype if anyone is wondering.

The fake dating trope was very well done in this book. It wasn’t a measly small bit in this book but a good portion of the story. Which I LOVE.

We have Olive who is working on her PH.D in pancreatic cancer early detection methods. Very devoted to her work but then one night decided to kiss a random stranger. Actually, not a total stranger but the worst professor imaginable. Dr. Adam Carlson, other students’ worst nightmare.

In an effort to prove to her best friend that she is over her ex, she entered into a fake dating relationship with Adam. What does Adam get out of it? He is considered a “flight risk” to the board committee who approves research funding. If Adam can show that he isn’t going anywhere by being in a fake relationship, then his funding would be approved for more research.

The humor and the sarcasm you get from the main characters is pure delight. I love how they banter between each other. It is slightly funny how Olive’s best friend pushes them together in the most awkward ways. I felt the connection between Adam and Olive is amazing and made me fall in love with them.

Some issues with this book even though The Love Hypothesis was incredibly good read, there was some lack of connection with you and the characters. You hear some backstory between Olive and Adam, but it all felt service level. Like the emotion was there and then it was gone. I wish there was more emotional connection than just a little backstory and moved on in the story.

The ending did leave me wanting a little more. Can’t put my finger on it. Even though I didn’t think the ending wasn’t terrible, it did slightly focus away from the romance in my opinion. So I wished that it felt more of the main plot than the subplot closer at the end.

Overall, great and amazing read. I am looking forward to her next book that is set in NASA.
