Wild #1
My Rating:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What a wonderful down to earth contemporary romance read. This book blew my mind away on the story and the characters that was woven together. How can a book be gut retching and heartwarming at the same time?
I felt that this book was super well done. If you need a book that will tug at your heartstrings but not super depressing and sad. This is it. It is written in so many levels that I cannot wait to pick up the next book.

One of the things I like most about this book is that it is a two-part book. The main character’s love doesn’t end in book one but is divided between two parts, The Simple Wild and Wild at Heart. Sometimes in romances you yearn for more and this gives it to you on so many levels.
Calla grew up in Canada only knowing her mother and her step father. She lived a very comfortable life until one day it came crashing down. Fired from her job and received a call from a friend of her biological father about his cancer diagnosis.
Calla never really got to know her biological dad due to the fact that her mother left him at the age of two. Since then they never stayed in touch and Calla felt that her father never really wanted a relationship with her.
Afraid that she may have regrets not meeting her father, she decided to go to Alaska to meet him. What else is she going to do, she had the time since she lost her job.
Getting to Alaska was a long adventure and an unfortunate run in with the Yeti or the bush pilot that got her there Jonah. Also, she lost her luggage in the process, so she is stuck in that as well.
Calla wasn’t prepared for life in Alaska. It has harsh living conditions and Calla is used to the life of having everything at her fingertips. On top of that, Jonah (the Yeti) is rude and judgmental of her lifestyle. Especially the layers of makeup, that he calls it, that she puts on.
As she spends time getting to know her father, why he chose to let her mother leave, it starts to become clear why he stayed behind. Despite it all. Calla also started to come to terms with her fathers cancer diagnosis and the impact that is having on her and the town.
Also layer on the fact that she starts to develop feelings for Jonah as well. Will she have the same fate as her mother all those years ago? Will she not be able to adjust to the life of Alaska and want to go home like her mother did?
Oh gosh, readers, this is something you need to read for yourself. The story and the characters grip you from the very beginning.
